Schottenstein Zox & Dunn Co., LPA July 29, 2008 Columbus, Ohio – Schottenstein Zox & Dunn Co., LPA, (SZD) announces the firm successfully prosecuted a claim against the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for flooding damage to an Ohio business owner.
Led by Stephen P. Samuels, partner and leader of SZD’s Environmental Practice Group, SZD’s trial team obtained a favorable decision for its client, Case Leasing & Rental, Inc., of Celina, Ohio. The court's decision found the Department of Natural Resources liable for the destruction of the client’s multi-million dollar business, which was destroyed by flooding of Grand Lake St. Mary's, a state-owned and managed lake located in Northwest Ohio. The team employed detailed hydrologic and geotechnical analysis to prove the Department was negligent in the design and operation of the lake spillway which caused massive flooding in the area.
