HOUSTON, TX--On November 17, 2009, Chris Pappas and Andrew Sarne obtained a defense verdict in a property damage case arising out of a large fire loss in a building in downtown Houston. The five-day jury trial in Harris County District Court resulted in a zero verdict. The lawsuit involved a series of insurance coverage issues that were tied to the loss. KRCL was able to persuade the Court to bifurcate the coverage issues and in phase one, the jury returned a verdict that the fire did not arise out of the operations of KRCL's client, despite the fact that the Houston Fire Department had previously found that KRCL's client caused the fire.
