Brooks Pierce Welcomes New Associates

OCTOBER 10, 2006 – Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard, LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its legal team with the addition of two new Associates to the firm.

Sarah Archer Leigh Phillips received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law (J.D., with Highest Honors, 2006). She served as Editor of the North Carolina Law Review, 2005-06. She also served as an extern for the Honorable Sanford Steelman, North Carolina Court of Appeals, 2005.

Ms. Phillips was the recipient of the James Davis Law Scholarship, the Russell J. Kirby Public Service Scholarship, and the Dameron Scholarship for outstanding performance as a first-year law student. She also was a Fellow of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, 2001-03, where she evaluated grant proposals submitted by nonprofit organizations, conducted site visits and interviews, and wrote grant recommendations.

Ms. Phillips received her undergraduate degree in Art History from Davidson College (B.A., with honors, magna cum laude, 2001), where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Phillip J. Long received his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 2005). He served as Executive Editor of the Wake Forest Law Review, 2004-05, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Mr. Long was the recipient of the Wake Forest Law Review Prize recognizing empirical study and outstanding staff members.

Mr. Long served as Law Clerk to the Honorable William L. Osteen, United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, 2005-06.

Mr. Long received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A., Chemistry and Music, with Highest Distinction, 2001), where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
