RICHMOND, Va. (February 23, 2021) – Sands Anderson PC today announced D. Patrick Callahan, a full-service employment lawyer, has joined the Firm as Counsel. Callahan counsels employers on a broad range of employment and labor law issues. An experienced litigator, he also defends clients when employment claims arise. Callahan will be based in Sands Anderson’s Richmond office.

“Patrick is a talented and capable employment attorney with the experience and skills necessary to complement our growing practice,” said firm president Margaret F. Hardy.

Callahan has built up an employment law counseling practice where he provides employers and professionals with guidance on issues including employment discrimination, disability accommodation, wage and hour, employee leave, restrictive covenants, whistleblower complaints, and employee misclassification.  He also advises clients on labor law issues in both union and non-union workplaces.

He also litigates employment matters in state and federal courts, including defending employers against claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, the National Labor Relations Act, the Virginia Human Rights Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act.

Callahan joins Sands Anderson’s expanding Labor & Employment practice group. This group announced the addition of Robyn H. Hansen and Jennifer L. Muse to the firm’s Williamsburg office in September 2020.

Callahan previously worked as a labor and employment associate with a national law firm. Callahan also served as a law clerk with the Richmond Circuit Court. He received his juris doctor from the West Virginia University College of Law and his Master of Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
