The California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) went into effect on Jan. 1, 2023, bringing further changes and rules for the collection and handling of personal information (PI) and requiring even more vigilance for companies with California customers. This amendment to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) extends the threshold reach of California’s requirements, creates a new category of PI (sensitive PI), and expands consumer privacy rights.
