Four Attorneys Elected to Tonkon Torp Partnership

PORTLAND, Ore. (December 1, 2021) Tonkon Torp LLP has elected Adam AdkinKaren HobsonChristopher Morehead, and Ava Schoen to its partnership, effective January 1, 2022.

“Adam, Karen, Chris, and Ava are wonderful additions to our partnership,” said Kurt Ruttum, Tonkon Torp Managing Partner. “They are each respected experts in their fields, are trusted and responsive advisors to their clients, and are active leaders within the firm and in the legal industry. We are very proud to have supported their practice growth over the years and we celebrate this next step in their careers.”

Adkin joined Tonkon Torp’s Business Department in 2017. His practice focuses on guiding business owners and managers through business transitions, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. Adkin is a summa cum laude graduate of Lewis & Clark Law School.

Hobson joined Tonkon Torp in 2020. As a member of Tonkon Torp's Estate Planning Practice Group, she advises individuals and high-net-worth families in estate planning and administration. She also assists clients with tax planning, business transactions, and succession planning. Hobson has specialized in this area of law since 2008 and is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Portland. She obtained her J.D. from University of Oregon and an LL.M. from New York University.

Morehead joined Tonkon Torp’s Labor & Employment Practice Group in 2020. Morehead works with employers of all sizes in industries such as healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and craft beverage to help them solve all types of workplace issues, ranging from advising on complex regulations to litigating on his clients’ behalf in state and federal court. Morehead is a cum laude graduate of Lewis & Clark Law School.

Schoen joined Tonkon Torp in 2004. As a member of the Bankruptcy & Reorganization Practice Group, Schoen focuses on Chapter 11 corporate reorganizations, debtor-creditor law, and commercial litigation. Schoen has provided services to clients in diverse industries including real estate, retail, manufacturing, farming, and technology. She has experience representing Chapter 11 debtors-in-possession as well as creditors. Ava earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.

All four of the new partners were listed in 2022 by Best Lawyers in America in recognition of their professional excellence in their respective practice areas.
