PORTLAND, Ore. (February 21, 2023) – Tonkon Torp partner Danny Newman has joined the Board of Trustees for Oregon Parks Forever. The organization raises funds and builds partnerships to restore and create new facilities and sites in the Oregon state, county, and local park and forest system.

“I’m honored to serve as a trustee for Oregon Parks Forever. Tonkon Torp has a deep, long-standing connection with the group that I am looking forward to continuing,” shared Newman. “The organization has wonderful projects underway that I’m excited to support such as planting a million trees in wildfire-ravaged parks and forests, building Oregon coast camping stations, and placing electric all-terrain wheelchairs at or near state or local parks to increase access to our natural spaces.”

Tonkon Torp has supported Oregon Parks Forever from its establishment in 1995, when founding partner Brian Booth played a key role in creating what was then the Oregon State Parks Trust, and later the Oregon State Parks Foundation. Newman is the eighth Tonkon Torp lawyer to serve on the organization’s Board of Trustees. Learn more about current Oregon Parks Forever initiatives here.

Newman is a partner in Tonkon Torp’s Litigation Department, where he focuses his work in bankruptcy and reorganization and serves as Co-Chair of the Government Solutions Practice Group. He has worked on the largest chapter 11 cases in the Pacific Northwest, represented debtors and creditors of all kinds in state court litigation and out-of-court workouts, managed complex real estate and closely-held corporation disputes, and negotiated successful resolutions for challenges to ballot titles and investigations by various state agencies.
