LFA Technology Discussion – September 2023

Thursday, September 14 at 1:30 ET

Please join us for the second installment of the LFA Tech Discussion Series.  For this session, our program is entitled Three Generations under the Same Roof: Why and How to Make the Modern Practice of Law More Technologically Inclusive

Today it is common for law firms to have three distinct generations working together: Millennials, Gen Xers, and Baby Boomers. (And law schools are currently minting the first cohorts of Gen Z lawyers.) Understanding how each generation approaches technology is key to creating a harmonious and dynamic workplace—it could also make the difference between obsolescence and success.

Our discussion will include:

  • Ways to nurture collaboration across varying legal and technological experience levels.
  • Tips for encouraging even the most apprehensive users to embrace new ways of working.
  • Insights into leveraging generative AI, machine learning, and cutting-edge legal tech to meet client needs while maximizing the unique strengths of your team.

This program is more than a tech talk. It’s a conversation about culture and how forward-thinking practitioners can create synergies from the range of experience available in the modern law firm.

Our moderator is Michael Willes, a partner at Tonkon Torp LLP, a member of the firm’s litigation department, and chair of its technology committee. He is also chair of the Oregon State Bar Business Litigation Section. In each of these roles, he seeks to thoughtfully use technology to make the practice of law more efficient and fulfilling.
